GMHSS Vellamunda

Government Model Higher Secondary School Vellamunda (GMHSS Vellamunda) is a government higher secondary school in Vellamunda, Wayanad district, Kerala, India. It is administered by the Government of Kerala.

History

Government Model Higher Secondary School Vellamunda was established in 1957. The school celebrated its 66th anniversary in January 2024.

The school was upgraded to the higher secondary level in 1998, with two Science batches and two Humanities batches.

In 1999, an additional Science batch was sanctioned by the Government of Kerala, with effect from the 1999–2000 academic year.

A Computer Commerce batch was introduced in 2004.

Academics

The school provides secondary and higher secondary education under the Kerala state school education system. Its higher secondary section includes Science, Humanities and Commerce streams.

Atal Tinkering Lab

The school has an Atal Tinkering Lab established under the Atal Innovation Mission of NITI Aayog. It is listed with ATL UID 92045209 and UDISE code 32030100707. The laboratory was sanctioned in March 2019.

Student activities

The school conducts academic, scientific, cultural and extracurricular activities. Its documented activities include participation in science programmes and the Student Police Cadet Project.
