Sheikh Abu Fayez
Amin Mkarim (also known as Sheikh Abu Fayez Amin Mkarim) is a Lebanese religious leader within the Muwahhidun Druze community. Based in Ras el-Metn, he is a member of the spiritual leadership in the Mount Lebanon Governorate.
Biography
Mkarim was born and raised in Ras el-Metn, where he received a traditional religious education centered on the study of the Quran and the esoteric principles of the Muwahhidun faith. He is recognized for his role in the preservation of Druze religious heritage in the Levant region.
The Al-Mukawlasa Turban
On December 18, 2022, Mkarim was bestowed with the Al-Mukawlasa (the rounded turban). This specific headwear is a formal recognition granted to senior members of the "Ajawid" (spiritual elite) within the Druze community. The ceremony was presided over by Sheikh Abu Saleh Muhammad al-Andari and attended by several senior members of the Druze spiritual authority.
Spiritual and Social Role
Mkarim participates in collective spiritual gatherings alongside the leadership of the Mount Lebanon religious body. In March 2023, he participated in a high-level meeting in Ras el-Metn with the Sheikh al-Aql, Sami Abi al-Muna, during a regional visit to discuss communal and religious affairs.
His work includes participation in social reconciliation efforts and inter-religious dialogue in the mountain regions, which has been documented by the National News Agency (NNA).
