Elton Fernandes

Elton Fernandes born May 16, 1985) is a Canadian soccer player who currently plays for North York Astros.

Playing Career

Fernandes played his youth soccer with Dixie SC where he was awarded Nike "Just Do It" Award, and attended, and played his high school soccer with Richview Collegiate in Etobicoke. He also part of the Woodbridge Soccer Club team that won the Ontario Cup. In 2003 Fernandes received a soccer scholarship to Western Illinois University, in his sophomore season he started in 20 matches recorded three goals and one assist. And was named to The All-Tournament Team and Mid-Con All-Conference Second Team. In his junior season he was tied for third for team assists with four, he was able to record a personal best for assists. When the season concluded he was selected to attend the 2006 NCAA Leadership Conference. Fernandes finished his senior season in 2006 recording his personal best in goals, and assists, he was able to finish fifth on the team in scoring with 13 points, and he signed for the Ottawa Fury of the USL Premier Development League during the off-season.

On May 9, 2007 the Toronto Lynx held a press conference to announce the 2007 roster, Fernandes were among the players signed. He made his debut on May 25 in 2-2 draw between the Chicago Fire Premier. The Lynx finished the season with a 6-6-4 record, which placed the team in fourth place in the Great Lakes Division, and only missed a Playoff berth by six points.

Fernandes was signed by the North York Astros for the 2008 CSL season.
