Zakariae Mahrady

Zakariae Mahrady (born 07 June 1991 in Scarborough, Ontario) is a Canadian-Moroccain soccer player who currently plays for North York Astros in the Canadian Soccer League.

Playing career

Mahrady began his career as a youth player with North York Hearts, the reserve team for the North York Astros. He made his Hearts debut on May 30, 2009 in a match against Unionville FC. In the earlier part of the season head coach Vladimir Klinovsky placed Mahrady primarily in the reserve matches, but due to injuries he was called into the senior team squad. He scored his first goal of the season on August 31, 2009 in a 1-1 tie against the Brampton Lions. The following week Mahrady scored the opening goal in 4-1 victory over London City. He helped the Astros achieve a four game unbeaten streak during their battle over the final playoff spot. Despite his efforts the Astros were eliminated from the playoffs after losing 2-1 against Italia Shooters. In total he appeared in 6 matches and recorded two goals in his rookie season with the Astros.
