CMF T-72

CMF T-72 is a demining vehicle developed by India's Research and Development Establishment, Pune jointly with Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment. It is based on T-72 (Ajeya) chassis with infront mounted Counter-Mine flail. The flail consists of chain and hammer whose controls are located with the tank commander, who can rotate the flail, at 400 revolutions a minute, in both clockwise and anti-clockwise directions. The system's 10 kg hammers smash mine up to a depth of 25 cm in the ground, tosses them out to clear a lane of 4 m width while the tank travels at speeds of up to 3 km/hr. A constant flail height is maintains by an automatic control system. The Counter Mine Flail system has an independent power source and does not use the main engine power. The damaged chain and hammer of flail can also be replaced in field conditions.
