Charles Lungley's Dockyard

Charles Lungley's Dockyard at Deptford Green, on the River Thames in London, in existence in 1814, and had one of the first drydocks on the Thames. The yard closed down in 1866, when Lungley became manager of the Millwall Ironworks yard of C.J. Mare. They also built marine engines.

Charles Lungley

Born in Hatfield , Essex, died June 1871 in Greenwich aged 55 years and married to Mary Ann Burchell.

The Shipyard

In 1861 he was advertising Unsinkable Iron Ships. The last ship launched by the shipyard Celt, a passenger ship for the Union Line, built in 1865 was completed by Millwall Ironworks & Shipbuilding Co. who had taken the shipyard over.
