Artsiom Plonis

Artsiom Plonis (; born 24 June 2002) is a Belarusian taekwondo practitioner. Competing in the men's 87 kg and +87 kg divisions, Plonis won the bronze medal in the 87 kg event at the 2023 World Taekwondo Championships while competing as an Individual Neutral Athlete. He won the bronze medal in the +87 kg event for Belarus at the 2026 European Taekwondo Championships.

Career

Plonis competed in international taekwondo tournaments from the youth age categories onward. In 2018, he won the bronze medal in the juniors' 68 kg event at the Riga Open. In 2019, he won the silver medal in the juniors' 78 kg event at the Trelleborg Open and the bronze medal in the same weight class at the Polish Open.

In 2021, he competed at senior level in the 87 kg event at the 2021 European Taekwondo Championships in Sofia. He was eliminated in the first round after losing to Croatia's Ivan Šapina. The same year, he won the bronze medal in the 87 kg event at the Tallinn Open.

In 2022, Plonis won the bronze medal in the 87 kg event at the Fujairah Open and the silver medal in the same weight class at the Slovenia Open. At the 2022 European Taekwondo Championships in Manchester, England, he competed in the 87 kg event and lost his opening match to Ukraine's Oleksandr Chumachenko. At the 2022 World Taekwondo Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico, he also competed in the 87 kg event and was eliminated in the first round after losing to Tunisia's Firas Katoussi.

In 2023, he won the silver medal in the 87 kg event at the Bosnia and Herzegovina Open. At the 2023 World Taekwondo Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan, Plonis won the bronze medal in the men's 87 kg event. He defeated Greece's Vasileios Tholiotis, North Macedonia's Filip Dodevski and Canada's Marc-André Bergeron to reach the semi-finals, where he lost to Croatia's Ivan Šapina and finished third.

In 2024, Plonis competed in the +80 kg event at the World Taekwondo Grand Slam Qualification Challenge in Wuxi. He defeated India's Chirag Savdesh Bharatvar in his opening match before losing to Italy's Roberto Botta in the quarter-finals.

In 2025, he won the bronze medal in the +87 kg event at the European Clubs Championships in Tallinn. At the 2025 World Taekwondo Championships in Wuxi, China, he competed in the +87 kg event and was eliminated in the second round, finishing outside the medals.

In 2026, Plonis won the bronze medal in the +87 kg event at the 2026 European Taekwondo Championships held in Munich, Germany. He defeated Portugal's Tiago Ribeiro 2–0 in the round of 16 and Ilia Ruderman, competing as an independent athlete, 2–0 in the quarter-finals to reach the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, he lost 2–0 to Great Britain's Caden Cunningham and finished third at the championships.
