2014 Detroit City FC season

The 2014 Detroit City FC season will be the third season of competitive soccer for the club. The team will be playing in the new Great Lakes West Conference of the Midwest Region of the National Premier Soccer League, which is one of two fourth-division soccer leagues in the United States.

Background

In February it was announced the club had hired its first full-time employee with the hiring of new General Manager Donovan Powell a former Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and Columbus Blue Jackets sales representative. The club will renew the Rust Belt Derby with AFC Cleveland and FC Buffalo for the third straight season, though the Derby will feature an unbalanced schedule with the splitting of the Great Lakes Conference into East and West. Detroit will face each opponent only once, while Cleveland and Buffalo will face each other three times.
