2014 Chattanooga FC season
The 2014 Chattanooga FC season will be the sixth season of competitive soccer for the club. The team will be playing in the Southeast Conference of the South Region of the National Premier Soccer League, which is one of two fourth-division soccer leagues in the United States.
Background
U.S. Open Cup
Chattanooga was selected to host a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup game for the first time, entering in the 2nd round. It was Chattanooga FC's 3rd time participating in the tournament.
Regular Season
The season will consist of twelve matches featuring home and away games against six of the seven Southeast Conference teams, no matches are scheduled against the Atlanta Silverbacks Reserves.
On June 2, Pensacola City FC folded, negating Chattanooga FC's previous 1-0 victory and cancelling the scheduled match on June 6.
Women's Team
Chattanooga FC launched a Women's Soccer Team in the WPSLfor the first time. In their inaugural season, the women's team finished 5-3-2, for 3rd in the Southeast.

U.S. Open Cup
Chattanooga FC entered the 2014 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in the 2nd round, hosting a professional team of the USL Pro, the Wilmington Hammerheads. Chattanooga had lost to another North Carolina team, the Carolina Dynamo in 2013's tournament on penalty kicks after finishing extra time at 4-4.
Chattanooga FC won the match 3-1, the club's first victory over a professional team on the strength of 2 goals by FW Luke Winter. Winter was named the Player of the Round by thecup.us .
Advancing to the 3rd Round, Chattanooga FC faced the Atlanta Silverbacks of the NASL. Chattanooga is in the same conference as the Atlanta Silverbacks Reserves, Atlanta's second squad. The Silverbacks put an end to Chattanooga's cup run with a 5-0 defeat, in front of a crowd of more than 4,000.
NPSL Season & Playoffs
Chattanooga FC's regular season started off slow including a loss at New Orleans Jesters and 2 early season ties, but the regular season closed with 5 straight wins to close the season on top of the division once again by goal difference over the Atlanta Silverbacks Reserves.
For 2014, the playoff format changed to a playoff to determine the Southeast Champions. The playoff was hosted by Chattanooga as the regular season champions. Chattanooga defeated Nashville FC 6-1 and then the New Orleans Jesters 4-0 to advance to the Regional Playoffs.
Although given the lowest seed in the Regional Playoffs, Chattanooga also played host to the Regional Playoffs. Chattanooga went on to defeat top seeded Miami United F.C. 2-0 and the Tulsa Athletics once again 2-0 in a rematch of 2013's Regional Match. Chattanooga would next host the Sacramento Gold in a rematch of the 2010 NPSL Championship game.
Against the Gold, Chattanooga went down 0-1 early, but came back to close out with a 4-1 victory in front of a league attendance record of 8,878 .
Player Awards and Former Player Notes
2011 Chattanooga FC player Mark Sherrod was drafted by the Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer in the second-round of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft.
Goalkeeper Greggaa Hartley was named the NPSL Mitre Player of the Week for the Playoffs after 3 shutouts and only 1 goal allowed in 4 South Regional Playoff games.
3 Chattanooga FC players were named to the NPSL Supporters' XI team. Chris Lavie on defense, and midfielders Thibault Charmey and Luis Trude.
2 Additional Players were also named to the All-NPSL team, goalkeeper Gregory Hartley and forward Luke Winter.
