Ypsilanti Crossroads Summer Festival
|
The Ypsilanti Crossroads Summer Festival is a weekly music series held every Friday night from 7PM to 10PM from June through August. The festival, a collaboration between the Downtown Association of Ypsilanti and local business owners, was first held in 2006. The concerts are held North Washington Street just north of Michigan Avenue in Historic Downtown Ypsilanti. The concert series features a diverse array of music genres including, but not limited to, blues, folk, bluegrass, and dirt hop. The festival began as a way to promote Ypsilanti's burgeoning local music scene, but has since grown to include craftsmen and artisans selling wares, food vendors, local retailers, and events for children including the famous Cupcake Walk sponsored by the Terry Bakery. The event is put on free of charge. History The festival was founded with a goal of bringing people to the Downtown in the summer. Accolades In 2010, it was named "Best Festival" by local radio station AM1700 WYPS, calling it "the greatest summer festival held on North Washington Street between June and August."
