The Seahouses Festival is an annual cultural event in Northumberland, UK. It began in 1999 as a small Sea Shanty festival. After a significant European Funding grant from the Leader+ programme, in 2005, it has grown into a more broadly based cultural celebration. Located around Seahouses' harbour with the natural amphitheatre of Harbour Hill as the focal point, the festival features a variety of music, art, film and drama alongside children's activities and street performers. Community groups, artists and historians work with the local people throughout the year on a variety of projects and events which culminate in the festival weekend. 2009 festival The Seahouses Festival takes place on Friday 19th to Sunday 21st June and the 2009 event celebrates the natural environment of the North Northumberland coastline area, its wildlife and maritime heritage.
