Xavior Abasi

Xavior AbduAbasi aka Omari Abasi (born April 23, 1969) is an American artist/author/writer/singer Internationally known for his contributions in the dance music (deep house/gospel house) community. Xavior currently splits his time between Vancouver, BC and Chicago, IL where he now considers his home. The San Pedro, California native grew up in a low income neighborhood raised by a single Parent (Patricia Ann Bell) as an only child. While not having much of a musical family nor singing in the local church, Xavior found his voice as a young adult of 23 years old singing for a Washington D.C. DJ named Jean Phillipe. He added his vocals to a demo track entitled "Life So Bright". This track gained mountable respect in the dance community by the noticeable vocal similarity to Sylvester.
Music Career
After dancing on Soul Train as an extra for eight years, Xavior decided that he wanted to pursue his dream of becoming a vocalist. Xavior found his first big break in dance music by meeting Javier Lugo who connected him with DJ/Producer Mijangos. Together the two created the song "Life" which received moderate club play and some air time on some Los Angeles radio stations. It wasn't until years later that Xavior's determination would pay off. He would meet two DJ/Producers (Eric Wickman and JD) of Deepswing. Their first track "Shelter" would make the trio a recognizable force in the club scene. "Shelter" would become a Winter Music Conference anthem and the God Father of House (Frankie Knuckles) top 10 all time favorite tracks.
The trio would go on to produce their next big hit "Taking Me Higher" which would make Billboard #1 dance tracks list. "Taking Me Higher" paved the way to working relationships with other notable producers like Eddie Amador, SoulPlanet Recordings and the one and only Andy Caldwell. The relationship with Andy Caldwell would allow Xavior to write and arrange the title track on Andy's album Universal Truth for Lisa Shaw.
In 2005 another production team (Panevino of Switzerland) would collaborate with Xavior creating what some might call his most eclectic works. In 2006, Xavior left the dance music industry due to the loss of his mother and his crippling fear of flying. His tracks are still being played on internet radio stations and in clubs where this style of music lives on.
Author
In 2009, Xavior wrote is first autobiographical novel under the name "Omari Abasi "I II III The Devil's After Me". He detailed his life in a very open and honest fashion. It is said that he has written three novels in this series and plans to release them soon. His first novel received great reviews and has been used in book clubs and groups all over the U.S. Although he loves singing, he states that he finds that the honesty in writing allows him to help others and reach out to people that house music never could.
