Whopper training

Whopper Training is a course specially developed for children to teach them how to relate to each other. It was founded by Gerard Weide from Holland in 1996. The training started in a psychologist practice in Almere and is now being given everywhere in Holland. The training is known as a very effective method for everything to do with handling conflicts and is regularly checked scientifically.
The target group
Whopper training is meant in particular for kids that are having social problems and that have to learn how to defend themselves or to control themselves from bullying others. However, Whopper training is given in schools to all kids, because everyone learns from it and kids that are already considered “good kids” will only get better.
The purpose of Whopper training
The goal of Whopper training is to strengthen the children and to make them feel more self-confident. The children should be able to express their feelings, be able to handle difficult social situations on their own and most of all respect others.
The four types of behaviour
Children can act very differently. Most children are friendly, helpful and funny. But often you see children that are being bullies, or that laugh at other kids, or children that are very scared. In the Whopper training four types of behavior are explained by means of four different animals that all wear a different coloured cap. Here is a summary of the four different characters:
*The tiger (the white cap) is good, well-behaved and listens well. He/she is friendly to all and shares with others.
*The rabbit (the yellow cap) is very shy, sad and is scared from others.
*The monkey (the red cap) makes fun and laughs at everyone and tries to get attention in that way.
*The waxwing (the black cap) is very mean, fights a lot and bosses everyone around.
What do kids learn?
Whopper training teaches children a lot of things. The children learn how to:
*-Introduce themselves
*-Say something nice
*-Give a compliment
*-Deal with their own feelings
*-Deal with feelings of others
*-Give their own opinion without hurting anyone
*-Say “yes” when they really want something and “no” when they do not agree with something
*-Trust themselves and others
*-Work together
*-Maintain friendships
*-Ask questions and show interest
*-Understand others
*-Give and receive criticism
*-Build confidence
*-Stop teasing
*-React when others start fighting
Results
Scientific research has proved that after being “Whopper trained”, between 80% and 100% of the children show clear behavior improvement. It turns out that Whopper training also leads to better concentration in school and helps children cope with every social situation.
