Burnnie

BURNNIE: Tails from the Light Side is a non-profit, faith based ministry used to teach children about God. The show is filmed at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and is distributed through RTC media (Reaching the Children). The show runs on just hundreds of dollars per episode. BURNNIE has received two media awards. The Treagues were awarded a CINDY (Cinema in Industry) Award for “Burnnie Goes To The Hospital", a video to help relieve a child’s fear of the hospital. For their radio program of BURNNIE, they received the Covenant Award in 1997. Burnnie the Bunnie runs in The U.S, England, New Zealand, and South America.
Synopsis
"BURNNIE" is a hand-operated puppet. The character is a misguided bunny who lives in the fictitious town of Celebration, South Dakota. He works in a "Fun and Games" shop named Tregglusions. BURNNIE enjoys going to a nearby ice cream parlor named "Christy Creams". BURNNIE gets into trouble during each episode but he truly means well.
BURNNIE the Bunnie is ready to hit TV screens and teach children how to live a Christian life, which they learn after watching his many mistakes. “His personality grew as we presented him before live audiences and received feedback from children,” Steve said. “They loved him. He’s a friendly kind of guy with a bit of an edge. He just says it like it is; or at least how he thinks it is.” That is what gives BURNNIE a life-like and realistic personality. He teaches others as he learns from his own mistakes.

# "Laughs and Giggles"

#: Burnnie is not interested in accepting advice when he plans to babysit for the first time with five very active boys. Scripture Verse: Proverbs 15:22 "Where there is no council, plans fail."
# "Camping Adventure"
#: Burnnie soon learns that camping requires the loss of a few comforts and the need for careful planning. Scripture Verse: "Through Him all things were made."
# "Burnnie's Band"
#: Burnnie wants to be in a band, but is not interested in putting forth practice to gain perfection. Scripture Verse: 2 Timothy 2:15 "Concentrate on doing our best work for God."
# "The Lemonade Stand"
#: Burnnie must learn to control his anger when customers do not care for his overpriced, very sour lemonade. Scripture Verse: Proverbs 15:1 "A gentle answer will calm a person's anger, but an unkind answer causes more anger."
# "Don't Just Do Something"
#: Burnnie learns that a task completed in a hurry does not always end with an excellent result. Scripture Verse: Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God." Special Guest

#: Burnnie works past his lack of confidence and creates his own book. Scripture Verse: Deuteronomy 31:8 "The Lord Himself goes before you and Hi will be with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be discouraged."

#: Burnnie helps others discover the meaning of Christmas by offering the opportunity for others to give him a variety of gifts. His friends quickly explain the concept of "giving" also applies to him. Scripture Verse: John 3:16 "He gave His only Son."
# "Burnnie's Radio Catastrophe"
#: Burnnie's enthusiasm in his new job causes carelessness and a loss of listening to important instructions. Scripture Verse: Proverbs 6:6 "Take a lesson from the ants. Learn from their ways, and become wise."

#: Burnnie discovers much responsibility is required to pamper the needs of a pet. Scripture Verse: Genesis 1:26 "People may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky. Over the livestock and all the wild animals and all the creatures that move along the ground."
# "Burnnie's Newspaper"
#: Burnnie learns that telling the truth is always the method of choice even when trying to gain an audience of newspaper readers. Scripture Verse: James 3:5 "Our tongues are small too, and yet they brag about big things. It takes only a spark to start a forest fire. The tongue is like a spark."
Season 2
# BURNNIE the Borrower
#: BURNNIE needs many items for his Mini Lights Festival, but borrowing is only best when the "borrowed" is brought back. Scripture Verse: Exodus 22:14 "If a man borrows anything of his neighbor, and it is injured or dies, he shall make full restitution."
#That's Not Yours
#: BURNNIE understand taking something from a store without paying is not a good idea. But how about something SMALL just "lying around?" BURNNIE soon discovers if it's "not yours," it's not for taking. Exodus 10:15 "You shall not steal."
# BURNNIE'S Banquet
#: Holidays are fun festivities to share with family and friends, unless, there is no joy in the process. BURNNIE turns to Chef Dominique when his attempt at preparing a holiday feast becomes "work, worry, and not worth it." Colossians 3:15 "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body, you were called to peace. And be thankful."
