UC4 Software is a company which manufactures Workload Automation and enterprise job scheduling software products that large and medium sized organizations use to automate their Information Technology (IT) processes. Headquartered in Wolfsgraben, Austria UC4 also has office locations in the United States, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany and Australia.
UC4 Software is partially owned by The Carlyle Group, a global private equity firm based in Washington, D.C.
Competitors in the market place include: CA, IBM, BMC Software, and numerous open source solutions such as cron, Anacron, Spring Batch, and so forth.
History
UC4 Software was founded in Wolfsgraben, Austria by Franz Beranek in 1985 under the name of SBB Software. In mid-2004 Beranek enlisted the support of technology investors CAPEXIT and TecNet Equity, and in March 2006 CAPEXIT sold its stake in UC4 to The Carlyle Group. On March 27, 2007, UC4 Software announced a merger with AppWorx Corporation, a privately held U.S. company.
Today, UC4 offers a wide range of process automation and enterprise job scheduling solutions, and partners with a number leading technology vendors, including Oracle Corporation, SAP AG, VMware, Microsoft, and SunGard.
Recent
UC4 Software was featured in the recent IDC White Paper, "The Time is Now for Considering Workload Automation." . This paper identifies the challenges that enterprises face when needing to automate processes that span multiple applications and systems. IDC also identifies the UC4 Workload Automation Suite as a possible solution that clients might consider citing the benefits and challenges that they might wish to be aware of.
In a Gartner research note published in April 2008 , UC4 Software was among a list of vendors identified as having taken steps towards evolving its job scheduling tool to offer IT Workload Automation Broker capabilities.
