tess guides monica a young angel on her first assigment as a caseworker.on a bus she meets david a young boy. david tells her that his mother and younger sister died in a car crash.she meets davids father nick a police detective. nick is looking for a live in nanny and nick hires monica. monica meets adam a amgel of death who tells her that davids sister kaite died of crid death but his mother is alive. monica larns that his mother felt guilty for katies death and left. monica goes to hewitt to find his mother leaving him in tess's care.in a cafe monica befriends two waitresss and thinks one of them is davids mother but soon finds out she is not when she is seen by a police officer and is recognized as a wanted fugitive.monica gose to talk to the other waitress and discover she is davids mother.monica reveals herself to her in a effort to persuad her to return to her family.but shje blames herself for her daughters death and refuses. monica gose back to david and tells him his mom will not come. daivd is heart broken and runs out side nick goes out side with him amd then a red cadillac pulls into the driveway it is davids mother. in graditude she gives tess her car which she takes happily.

monica meets her new assigment earl rowley a baseball coach.he became bitter because of a war injury from vietnam that prevented him from a major league career.he pushes his high school team hard.when he appoints peter enloe a star player team captin he informs him collage scout will be at there game.when earl tells him to make another player to run he hits the coach the earl collapses on the feild and i took to a hospitl. there monica learns from adam the andel of death that earl is dying of pancreatic canser.earl remembers that monica saved him in the war. at the big game earl appears and the team wins after the game adam coms to take earl and he asked monica to hold his hand as they walk into the light.

monica meets elizabeath jessup a journalist and lear5ns she has a drinking problem. at a party for her granddaughter she has to much to drink and crashes the party and her daughter sydney takes beth home. the next day sydney says that if her mom dose not get help they will not have any contact with her. when beth comes to lizs house liz falls asleep and caches the house on fire when she drops a cigarette and;leaves beth in the house. monica find beth and carries her out of the house. at the hospital syudney talks to liz about leaving beth in the house to die. liz gose to her houe and see monica who tells her she is an angel. at the hospital they find out that beth will live.
