Top Fans

Top Fans is a startup company creating an web-based celebrity game where visitors accrue points for posting and voting on links. Top Fans pledges that these points will be redeemable in the future as a sort of virtual currency that grants access to celebrities, although this promise is not yet fulfilled by the current incarnation of the website.
Top Fans is a private company funded by The Founders Fund and Blue Run Ventures and was co-founded by IronPort founder Scott Banister.
Technology
Top Fans is built using the Ruby web framework Merb, and is notable in its use of Merb "slices" to modularize the application's core logic separately from the web layer, allowing multiple lightweight applications to share a common core.
