Tiffany René Estrella Attwood (born February 1, 1971) is a Planning Commissioner for the Town of Danville, California. Her Commission started on January 1, 2009 and is appointed by the Mayor and City Council of Danville. The Planning Commission is a nonpartisan position, which consists of seven members charged with formulating policies, strategies and recommendations concerning land use of property in the Town of Danville. On June 15, 2009, Tiffany announced her candidacy for U.S. Congress in . This seat has been vacated by Ellen Tauscher, who had accepted the position of Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Affairs. The primary election for the seat will be held on and the runoff election (if needed) will take place on November 3. During her filing at the Contra Costa County Elections Department on July 20, 2009, the clerk informed Attwood that she was five days short of being an eligible Democratic candidate to be put on the ballot. Undeterred by yet another hurdle, Tiffany decided that it was vital to motivate women, Latino’s and Filipino’s to get an active voice in politics. On July 28th, 2009, Attwood for Congress changed their strategy and filed again as a “write-in” candidate. History shows that only seven Congressional candidates have ever won their seat as a write-in candidate. Early years Born in Hayward, California to James Olidan Estrella and Isabelle Marie Paz, Tiffany is the middle of two brothers James “Jim” Olidan Estrella, Jr. and Ajay Joseph Bromstead, who served as U.S. Marines. At the age of three, her father abandoned the family, which led to extra-ordinary circumstances with mom and the kids. Eventually, Isabelle remarried seven years later to John Bromstead, a former U.S. Marine. Having John around helped Tiffany grow up in the rough Hayward/Oakland area, which she learned to get around in a somewhat hostile environment. During the late 70’s and early 80’s the recession took and enormous bite out of the Hayward education budget which essentially eliminated Hayward’s middle schools. Faced with a promotion from elementary school straight into High School, now exacerbated family life, with gang influence around and having to turn into an adult overnight. Career woman At 18, Tiffany left home, joined the Union and began her career working at loading parcels onto trucks in the Oakland Facility during the day, then working nights at Costco. Living around the rough neighborhoods for most of her life helped Tiffany work well with all walks of cultures in the facility - which helped promote her as a Supervisor. After a number of years at and Costco, she changed her career to the Mortgage industry. As a Sr. Processor in a mortgage company, Tiffany caught on quickly to mortgage finance and eventually earned her California Real Estate License. Since then, Attwood has worked with NorthPoint Group as a Senior Vice President/Loan consultant and is currently with Emery Financial as a Senior Mortgage Consultant/Real Estate Investment Advisor. She has been actively involved in the Real Estate Market, owning several investment properties for over 17 years. Heritage “Tiffany is the epitome of Multi-Culture in America,” states her Campaign Manager for Congress. “When you look at her heritage, you can’t help saying, “Hey, isn’t that the Melting-Pot Mom?”
