Optellios, Inc. is a manufacturer of fiber optic perimeter security systems based in Langhorne, PA. Originally founded in the telecommunications sector by Jay Patel in 2000, its current product line goes by the name of FiberPatrol. The FiberPatrol product line provides protection for fence, in-ground, wall, data networks and pipelines. Notable customers include NORAD and White Sands Missile Range. In January 2007, Optellios acquired a line of products enabling video and data transmission over fiber-optic cable, as a result of a license agreement with Cisco. The licensed technology stems from Cisco's acquisition of Sypixx on March 7, 2006. For more detail, see: History Optellios, formerly Optellium, was launched in August 2000. The company was founded with the goal of establishing a leadership position in enabling high speed communications at 40Gbs and beyond by correcting for detrimental Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD) distortions in communication links. By mid 2004, Optellios aggressively sought to refocus its technology into the emerging security market and launched its first security product in the third quarter of 2004, a fiber-optic based intrusion detection system capable of locating the point of intrusion to within 10s of feet over perimeter runs as long as 60 miles. In January 2007, Optellios had expanded its security product line significantly, and now offers a new line of video and data products acquired from Cisco.
