The Willing Well IV: The Final Cut

"The Willing Well IV: The Final Cut" is the last song on progressive rock quartet Coheed and Cambria's album Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness. The song, based on the comic series The Amory Wars, represent's 's dreams of the lost souls of the Keywork carrying him to a guillotine to atone for his fantasized murder of his ex-girlfriend, . As the guillotine descends, Erica's words (which are sung by Claudio during the song) echo through The Writer's mind: "This is no beginning; this is the final cut". After the song "The End Complete V: On the Brink" on Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World For Tomorrow a modified instrumental version of the The Final Cut can be heard.
In concert
The song has become a concert staple. The live version of the song is often longer than the album version, with the majority of it being improvised. Also, a theremin solo is sometimes added, as it was in Neverender: Children of The Fence Edition. This version is over 18 minutes long.
