Athalite

Athalite is claimed by its manufacturer to be a proprietary material used in the tips of the ColdHeat soldering tool. The name is derived from "Accelerated THermal Action". It is a composite material and it is highly malleable. However, the material is very fragile.
The manufacturer claims a trademark on the name.
Composition of Athalite
Athalite is most likely composed of graphite. It might also be formed by other materials containing semiconductive elements such as germanium or silicon, as stated in the ColdHeat patent application. A nickel-chromium or other resistive alloy is another possibility listed in the application, but is unlikely to have been used.
