Barcode Project

In 2008, the Norwegian government declared the Barcode Project as official. As the largest mass-building project in Scandinavian history, 12 buildings will be constructed. In this period the new Oslo Central Station will be built. The new station is not a part of the project. The project is a sub-project of the Bjorvika renovation and expansion, with the new Oslo Opera House and the upcoming Munch museum. The buildings are designed mainly by Snohetta, the leading architectural company in Norway, and various others like Price Water House Coopers. Their headquarters was the first of the 12 buildings to be made. A new street will be built in this new business square in Oslo. The new Bjorvika tunnel that is now being built will remove all roads from this district. Instead of roads, the railway system, also new, will replace the car traffic with fast-speed trains.
The Barcode Project is a part of Fjord City, the new central Oslo, and the citys modern gateway.
