The Ninth Wave

The Ninth Wave is a English-language not-for-profit tabloid-format fortnightly newspaper based in Pune, India. It is established and run by Akriti Mehta and Nikhil Tiwari, students of Fergusson College, where it is currently circulated. The paper is currently of a four-page tabloid-sized format, with plans to expand further in the new academic year of 2008-09. The newspaper was released by (now-retired) Principal N.M. Chitale on January 29, 2008.

Content

The newspaper is targeted largely at Psychology majors, while still meaning to "create awareness and interest in the layperson." Articles are thus of a large variety of topics from a general psychological perspective. The paper aims to "present with a variety of opinions as well as a neutral point of view." Regularly-scheduled columns are Focus On, highlighting various mental disorders and aspects thereof every edition from a "personal" point of view; Have Your Say, a write-in space for questions posed to readers every previous issue; book reviews, film reviews, Ask Us: an advice column, and various opinion pieces.
