Tank monument

A tank monument or armoured memorial is a tank withdrawn from military service and displayed to commemorate a battle or a military unit. Obsolete tanks may also be displayed as gate guards outside military bases.
There are several examples in the Ardennes, which was the location of major armoured offensives in WW2 such as the Battle of Sedan and the Battle of the Bulge. These include:</ref>

** an Achilles tank destroyer in La Roche
** a Panther tank in the village Celles
** a Sherman tank in the town square of Bastogne
** a Tiger II tank in the village of La Gleize
Ashford, Kent has a First World War Mark IV tank, built in Lincoln, as the war memorial. It stands in St George’s Square and the monument is grade II listed. In Medicine Hat, Alberta, the cenotaph includes a World War II Sherman tank presented by the South Alberta Light Horse as a memorial to the soldiers of the South Alberta Regiment
