68th Society and Display Team

The 68th society was founded in 1975 to research and commemorate the history of the Durham Light Infantry and its parent unit the 68th foot and Light Infantry. The Society has also set up a reenactment Display Team representing the solders of the 68th, as they would appear in 1814, after their return from the peninsular war. Although their focus is to educate the public about the regiment and the Napoleonic wars through a Living History encampment and Drill Displays, they have also taken part in a large amount of battle reenactments across the UK and Europe. There other activities have included honour guards for the remembrance parade in Durham City and for several ex-solder association events, Displays and work for the modern Light Infantry and education work for local schools and communities.

The Display team will be commemorating tree major anniversaries this year:

The foundation of the regiment: 1758
The conversion to Light Infantry: 1808
The Disbanding of the Durham Light Infantry: 1968
