Bloglomerate

A Bloglomerate is one of an increasing number of blogging conglomerates that are slowly transforming grass-roots blogs into corporate media outlets (or at least financially co-dependent groupings of topic-specific blogs in a loosely knit amalgam that survive at least in part on higher consolidated ad rates). Shared corporate-level expenses are another area of savings.

Gawker Media might be one example.
Weblogs, Inc. would be another.

The concern among some readers is that certain of these larger bloglomerates may be more susceptible to corporate influence than truly independent blogs, and might promote certain products, not report on certain topics sensitive to advertisers, or otherwise compromise editorial integrity.
