Srinubabu Gedela

Dr Srinu Babu Gedela hails from the village of Allena in Srikakulam District of Andhra Pradesh. He was born to Mr.Appala Naidu and Mrs.Yashodha.
He is the founding editor of Journal of Proteomics & Bioinformatics and later established OMICS Publishing Group with the support from founding editors of Journal of Proteomics & Bioinformatics.
His academic research is mainly in the fields of Biomarkers, Diabetes and application of Experimental Design techniques to life sciences.
Education
Dr Gedela completed his B.Pharm and M.Tech from Andhra University in the southern state of India. He was guided by Prof. M. Narasimha Rao & his principal Prof. Allam Apparao. His experimental design is useful for method validation and can be adopted to any life sciences techniques.
He learnt from the principal to devise wonders in biotechnology by combining several methodologies from various disciplines including information technology. He has completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Andhra University at the age of 25 years and subsequently pursued postdoctoral studies at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Research
Srinubabu Gedela focuses on Biomarkers and how these can be helpful in identification of Diabetes, Cancer.
His area of interests includes Mass Spectroscopy, Chromatography, Molecular Biomarkers and Open Access Publishing.
In 2007 Dr Srinubabu Gedela bagged the “Young Scientist 2007” award from Asia Oceania Human Proteome Organization (HUPO) on 9th October 2007, for his excellence in scientific research.
His research work on Biomarkers, a method to predict age of disease occurrence like cancer and diabetes, was eventually recognized. Dr Gedela delivered talks about his studies in several countries like Australia, China, Finland, Netherlands , South Korea, in addition to the US.
He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy from Andhra University for his research on Micro array and Mass Spectrometric Analysis of Proteins and Pharamaceuticals-An Experimental Design Approach.
Srinubabu Gedela has authored and Co-authored many research papers related to Identification of Biomarkers, Microarray Analysis, Diabetic neuropathy, Alzheimer’s disease and Analyzing Bioinformatics Data.
OMICS Group
OMICS was founded at the end of 2007 (when he was 25). As a young Ph.D scientist at Andhra University, he experienced a lot of problems getting access to relevant literature from different sources. On 9th Oct 2007, he received a Young Scientist Award from HUPO , where he explained the problems young scientists face in getting relevant literature, especially scientists based in developing countries. At the 6th World HUPO, held in South Korea, some of the scientists provided him with support to enable him to start a new Open Access journal in the field of proteomics. In fact, he had started the first Open Access journal in early 2008 — this was The Journal of Proteomics & Bioinformatics. Later in 2009, he started another 10 Open Access journals with the support from Stanford Alumni during his post-doctoral studies at Stanford. Currently OMICS is employing around 500 employees and the group main web page reached the facebook followers of more than 24,000. This Group is running around 250 Open Access journals and organizes dozens of scientific conferences around the world with the support from strong editorial members of around 20,000.
