Shotton Steel RFC

Shotton Steel Rugby Football Club is a Welsh rugby union team based in , North Wales. Founded in 1970 by workers at the nearby Shotton Steel works Shotten Steel RFC is a member of the Welsh Rugby Union. The club fields a two Senior teams and has a growing Youth, Juniors and Mini sections.
History
Originally formed as BSC Shotton in 1999 following a restructure, The club merged with Deeside RFC to form Afon Dee RFC This was to help develop a more competitive team in Deeside. After 5 years playing as Afon Dee RFC the committee voted to rename the club Shotton Steel RFC with a view to restructuring the club within the North East Wales District League and increasing ties within the local community.
Future of the club
Shotton Steel RFC are committed to developing a sound base for players of all ages to learn and develop their rugby skills in a sporting and safe environment. Since the 04-05 season Shotton Steel has had a mixed set of results on and off the field. However in recent years the focus on Youth development has begun to pay dividends for the club. Finishing runner up in WRU Division 3 North 2010/2012. Shotton currently sit at the top of the league without losing a single league game. In addition to this they remain in both the SWALEC Bowl and North Wales Intermediate Cup.
