Mian Faheem Akbar Kakakhel is a lawyer, politician, poet, writer, and a social worker. He belongs to Pakistan Peoples Party. He was born to Mian Noor ul Akbar Kakakhel on January 4, 1957 at Dandoqa, District Swabi of Pakistan. Early life He was the second among five brothers. He got his primary education from Government Primary School Dandoqa. He later went to District Swat in order to complete his middle standard education. He passed his secondary school examination from Government High School Nawan Killi (now Kernal Sher Killi) in first division. He was admitted in Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayum Khan Government College Swabi, from where he completed his higher secondary education. From the same college he graduated in Law and Political Science. Then he was admitted to Khyber Law College, University of Peshawar where he got his LLB degree. After this he started practice as a lawyer in 1981. Political life Mian Faheem Akbar Kakakhel started his political career from the platform of student politics. In 1976, he founded the People Students Federation in Swabi. He contested the election of the Students Union in the same year. In 1977, Martial Law was imposed by General Zia ul Haq. Mian Faheem Akbar Kakakhel as a student, was the first victim of General Zia's Operation Fair Play. On February 4, 1978, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against Mian Faheem Akbar at Police Station Swabi and he was arrested. Pre-FIR escalation of this event was an attempt of protest by students against the dictatorship of General Zia, which were led by Mian Faheem Akbar Kakakhel. The court of Martial Law opened the case and later on he was penalised. During professional life, he twice contested in local bodies election. Later he became President of the Peoples Lawyer Forum, District Swabi. In 2004, he successfully contested in the election of NWFP Bar Council. He remained on this position until December, 2009 when his first period as a member completed. In January 2010, he was again elected as a member of NWFP Bar Council and will serve on this position till 2015. Mian Sahib was influential in the Lawyers' Movement against the current government of Pakistan for restoration of Judiciary. He actively participated against General Pervez Musharraf's step to terminate the then Chief Justice of Pakistan in March 2007. He was arrested at Lahore during a lawyer's protest against General Musharraf. Similarly he also participated in both of the Long Marches by lawyers in 2008 and 2009 respectively. Before the Long March 2009 by lawyers and Pakistan Muslim League (N), he was restricted to stay at home by police, but he continued protesting against the government. He carried on his mission till the restoration of Judiciary in March 2009. He was also an influential factor against the military government of General Musharraf, after the death of Benazir Bhutto. Professional life He was twice selected as a Session Judge but declined the position because he had no interest in Judiciary. He also delivers special lectures to lawyers for assistance in their professional life. Once it was decided informally by the Government of Pakistan Peoples Party in 1996 to select him as the Attorney General of Pakistan but the then President of Pakistan, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Khan Leghari, dissolved the National Assembly.
