Moosa Anwar

Moosa Anwar (born December 7, 1986) is the Youth League President of Jumhooree Party of Maldives. He was from the southern most Addu Atoll Hithadhoo. Moosa Anwar is commonly known as Moosa and is a former journalist.

- Organized and lead the first ever protest in C.H.S.E history on 25 June 2007, demanding reform to the center.
- Being a student at C.H.S.E, publicly wrote anti-government featured articles to Minivan Daily, Dhivehi Observer and Adduvas, while a student has been expelled from C.H.S.E. for expressing his views on pro-opposition E-Sandhaanu Magazine.

- Beaten and arrested by Police on 1 September 2008 at Barulamaanee Protest. Press freedom organization Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has heavily criticized the September 2007 arrest of ten journalists, including Moosa Anwar.

- Participated in a Uthuru Arumaaz nation-wide campaign trip calling for an Interim Government at the transitional period.
- PRESIDENT OF JUMHOOREE PARTY YOUTH LEAGUE AND NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBER OF JUMHOOREE PARTY.
- Lodged a case against President Mohamed Nasheed (Anni) challenging his candidacy in the first round of Presidential Election 2008, and happen to be the only Maldivian to take nationwide disputes about Anni’s candidacy to the court, despite the political risk and pressure.
Moosa Anwar defended the case at Supreme Court by himself, because he cannot hire a lawyer as none of them were willing to talk against Anni at the risky instance. Supreme Court’s verdict exonerated the disputes about Anni’s candidacy.

- BUT Moosa Kept back personnel interests and campaigned for CHANGE (Anni) in the second round of the presidential election as the NATION DESIRE, proving his guts and independence on Maldivian political ground.
