Sectus 2007 was run entirely by volunteers, and all proceeds went to Book Aid International, a charity which works to provide books and journals to the developing world. In total Sectus 2007 raised £4000 for charity.

A similar planned conference, Sectus 2009, was cancelled.

Activities at Sectus 2007

Key note speaker was Steve Vander Ark from the Harry Potter Lexicon. Colin Manlove, renowned academic and children's literature expert and author of From Alice to Harry Potter: Children’s Fantasy in England was one of the featured speakers. Sectus had presentations, panels, roundtables and workshops.
The final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was published during the conference and could be pre-reserved by attendees so that they could pick up their copies at the conference site shortly after its midnight release.

In addition to the activities during the days of the convention proper, there were some optional additional activities both before and after it. Prior to the convention there were several tours offered, including a walking tour of parts of London that were featured in the Potter films. After the convention, a residential course in the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales permitted additional discussion of the Harry Potter books.
