Robert Vinson

Robert Vinson (born February 27, 1974) is an American business leader and real estate professional. Vinson founded the Vinson Real Estate Group in 2000 and was a candidate in the Los Angeles city council race in 2003.
Early life and background
Robert Vinson is a second generation Angelino. He was born in Los Angeles, California at Queen of Angels Hospital and grew up in the western area of the San Fernando Valley. His father, Robert Vinson, Sr., who is of Irish and French descent, was the former head of the property department at MGM Studios and Stephen J. Cannell Productions. Robert Vinson's mother is Darlene Montano, a painter and fine artist of Mexican descent. His maternal great grandfather, Don Jose Miraso, was born in Mexico and immigrated to the United States after a business deal with Pancho Villa went bad. His paternal grandfather, Fred Vinson, was born in Texas and is related to the late Supreme Court Chief Justice Fred M. Vinson. Robert's parents are now divorced. Robert Vinson attended high school at Canoga Park High \School. He studied theater and urban planning, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern California (USC) as a Mexican-American Alumni Scholar. Vinson later returned as a guest lecturer at USC in the School of Planning Policy and Development's "LA Semester Program."
Career
Vinson began his career in real estate in 1995 as a principal at Mekeel-Vinson. In 1998, he proposed affordable single family housing and community facilities in the greater Los Angeles area.
Vinson founded Vinson Real Estate Group (VRG) real estate brokerage and international business development firm in 2000. VRG is a certified minority business enterprise (LAC MTA Certification). The team members at the Vinson Real Estate Group come from backgrounds that include real estate brokerage, architecture, urban planning, fine arts, political science, landscape design, and social work.
Political activity
Vinson ran for Los Angeles city council in 2003 and was endorsed the Democratic Party, but his campaign was unsuccessful. Vinson served on the California Criminal Advisory Commission and the California Export Finance Board.
Nonprofit and civic activities
Vinson volunteers locally and abroad with many nonprofit organizations, such as LA's Best friends, which he co-founded and Animal Aid Unlimited based in India. Vinson has been active locally in the nonprofit housing organization, Alternative Living for the Aging, where he served as vice president of the board of directors, and as a longtime advisory board member to the Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy and Youth Mentoring Connection.
