Ram Kumar Walia (born 1 March 1966, Khatauli) is an Indian National Congress politician from Dehradun in Uttarakhand state of India. He was formerly a minister in the Government of Uttarakhand responsible for organic agriculture. Early life Ram Kumar Walia was born to a farmer Late Ch. Ratan Singh and Sumitra Devi. He completed his schooling from Khatauli Secondary School and moved to Dehradun ITI after that. During his ITI diploma course he raised his voice for various students grievances pertaining in ITI Dehradun system. He was elected President of Students Union ITI Dehradun. Political life Walia joined the Indian National Congress in Dehradun in 1987. He became State Vice President of Uttarpradesh Nehru Brigade in 1990. In 1994 he joined the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) under the leadership of Bhen Mayawati and became District President and speaker of BSP for Dehradun. He worked at various levels and served in various committees in BSP. In 1998 he joined the Kisan Kamgar Party (now the Rashtriya Lok Dal, RLD) and became the Garhwal mandal prabhari for RLD. In 2001 He again joined the Indian National Congress under Shri Harish Rawat PCC President and was nominated member of PCC. He then was nominated President of State Congress Committee Public Grievances Cell, Uttarakhand. In 2005 he became State Minister for Organic Agriculture Uttarakhand. He was also appointed the Advisor for Chief Minister Uttarakhand Government and Advisor for Uttarakhand Organic Commodity Board. In 2010 he became observer for Uttarpradesh state of Kisan & Khet Mazdoor Congress, All India Congress Committee. In 2010 he became President of Congress Public Awareness Organization. He is the President of Weaker Class Welfare Council.
