Mangano Soloman Elijah Deshnalavski (Deschanel) (1930- ) is an Influential Hungarian-Jewish political thoerist and Industrialist who was a senior member of the Hungarian Workers' Party during its rule over the Hungarian Soviet Republic. He is also a decorated as a General in the Hungarian peoples armed forces. In 1968 he was appointed minister for Industry and is credited with launching Hungarys mining industry and developing economic ties with the United Kingdom and East Germany. He served a Deputy prime minister of Hungary from 1979 to 1984 and again for a brief period in 1986. Since the collapse of communism in Hungary in 1989 Deschanel has served as First Secretary of the Department of Commerce and National commodities who along with Prime minister József Antall forged links with Western European states. Mangano Deschanel is now Chief Executive of a mining and commodity exporting company based in Budapest and Dunaújváros,Fejér county.

Early life
Born in Odessa, present-day Ukraine, to a peasant military family, he spent most of his life in Lozova and Omsk, USSR. His large family occupied a small communal holding of land which eventually was confiscated when most males in the family joined the Red Army. Although the family were prominent Bolsheviks initially, authorities suspected treasonous activity following the death of a young child of the family in Jerusalem. After Stalin's renewed persecution of Jews in Omsk, resulting in the execution of his grandfather, Deputy commissar for foreign affairs, Solomon Lozovsky, Deschanel, along with several brothers fled to Romania, eventually settling in Budapest.

Military career
Deschanel was conscripted into the Hungarian peoples armed forces, as he was a citizen of the USSR. At the same time he joined the Hungarian Communist Party (renamed the Hungarian Workers' Party) regiment in central Pest and became its Secretary of administration. After becoming a Lt. in the army, he co-founded a secret central committee of revolutionaries within the party, merging the Party ward with militia of which he became Vice chairman of. He served as commander and chief of staff of the militia in Budapest during the Hungarian 1956 revolution. When Rakosi came to power following the Revolution, he promoted Deschanel to the rank of General, after being impressed by his military co-ordinating and leadership skills during the attempted coup.

When Lajos Bokros became Deputy leader of the Hungarian National peoples party in 1959, he appointed Deschanel Party treasurer.

What the hell is "Hungarian National peoples party" ? There was only one party, the Hungarian Socialist Worker Party in 1959! Lajos Bokros was minister in 1990s!

Political roles
By 1964 Deschanel was a fleet marshal in the Hungarian airforce and Secretary General of the Supreme military council who reported directly to Rakosi, effectively making him Minister of Defence. During his military career, 6 of his brothers became prominent in the Pilotburo of the party. Together with his brother Ivan, who was Minister for Interior security, the Deschanels secured tens of thousands of acres of Hungarian rural land plots designated for military bases and ethnic relocating. After Rakosi died in 1971, to prevent the land being frozen by his successor, both Deschanels assumed deed wnership of the land after a formal payment by the Budapest central bank, the CEO of which, Károly Grósz became a partner in the Deschanel firm.

Rakosi lost his power after 1956 and was emigrated in the Sovietunion. So nobody reported him in 1960s!

When János Kádár assumed power, he promoted Mangano Deschanel to Minister for Industrial development and Ivan Deschanel to First Deputy prime minister. The latter is credited with spearheading Hungary's industrial exploiting of natural resources and increasing the GNP of Hungary by 130%, never before seen by any communist country.
György Lázár, the Hungarian premier appointed Deschanel as Deputy premier in July 1979.
Károly Grósz became Prime minister of Hungary in 1987. it was him who, as previous CEO of Hungarian bank, was senor partner in the Deschanel resource exporting firm. He introduced vast economic reforms and gave lucrative public contracts to the company, to create a monopoly driving the firm to corporate standards. This vastly increased the wealth of both himself and controversially the Deschanels.

Post soviet politics
Deschanel formally resigned from the Central committee in 1996, having previously been party Chief Whip and Chief Secretary of the Dept. of Industry. He still occupies a seat in the HNP central committee.

Business interests
Deschanel is now Chairman and Chief Executive officer of the families Mining and Zinc importing corporation which was floated internationally in 1998. He also has other business interests abroad including real estate and domestic public works contracting through his subsidiary construction company. All business interests were merged in 2000, into the Deschanel group of which Mangano Deschanel is President of.
