Pupil Meter

The Pupil Meter is a pupilometer application created by Sunmore Systems (founded in 2008), used for measuring pupillary distance, the distance between one’s pupils - an essential piece of information required for anyone purchasing new eyeglasses, whether from an optometrist or via an online store. This app is available for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. In addition, it is available as a Flash web app on a variety of websites which offer eyeglasses. The Pupil Meter requires a webcam and a standard sized plastic card with a magnetic strip (magnetic stripe card). When used properly, it has been documented to be accurate within 0.5mm. The Pupil Meter saves measurements, so that the user can email their reading with attached photographic record directly to the online store of their choice, along with relevant contact information. The app has been downloaded over 5,000 times. |
