Edward C "Pete" Snyder (Born: 16 Dec 1945) first started in radio at a small (effective range:1 mi) home made radio station in Ubon, Thailand during his stint with the U S Air Force in 1966. It was staffed by members of the US and Royal Australian air forces for several years until the Armed Forces Radio & Television Service began normal operations. While at Penn St he worked at WGBI-AM in Scranton as copywriter. He then moved to WKOP-AM in Binghamton NY as morning DJ, and wrote several short comedy bits for airplay, many using the voice of Michael J Rayomnd of the stations FM affiliate. He later became programme director for AM. Called to Scranton's WWDL-FM, he soon grew tired of the"extremely" soft rock, no talk format" the station was running, and departed. He worked for several health organizations in New York State and Maine, then moved to Philadelphia with his first wife, then a Navy nurse. In 1975 he was offered a return to active duty with the Air Force Reserve Recuiting Service, and in 1979 became the services electronic media manager, writing and producing radio and television spots. He also served as editor for the organization's news magazine, and taught several advertising classes to new recruiters. It was in Tacoma WA where he met up with another former broadcaster, Pat Brown, and together with two others (Melanie Allen and Rod Sclater) form an improv team, writing and recording material for troops stationed overseas. He retired after 24 years of service in November 1993, and currently lives in Arizona.
