Perry Dorrestein

Perry Ross Dorrestein (born September 11, 1987) is an American football offensive tackle who is currently a free agent. He has NFL experience with the New York Jets and Chicago Bears. He played his college football for the Michigan Wolverines football team.
High school
He was rated as the 43rd, 75th and 81st best high school football offensive tackle in the class of 2006 by Rivals.com, ESPN and Scout.com, respectively. Rivals also rated him as the 11th best football player in the state of Illinois. He started 4 games for the 2008 team, 8 games for the 2009 team and 9 games for the 2010 team. He lost the starting right tackle position to Stephen Schilling in a battle with Mark Ortmann and Schilling at the start of the 2007 NCAA Division I FBS football season for the 2007 Michigan Wolverines football team. However, he made his career debut on September 8 in the second game of the season against Oregon.
With the departure of Mike Hart, Mario Manningham, Adrian Arrington, Jake Long, Chad Henne, and Adam Kraus to the National Football League and Justin Boren's defection from the team, the 2008 Wolverines entered the season for new head coach Rich Rodriguez with only three returning offensive starters: Schilling, tight end Carson Butler and fullback Mark Moundros. Backup quarterback Ryan Mallett transferred and two senior offensive linemen (Jeremy Ciulla and Alex Mitchell) declined to use their fifth years of eligibility. Offensive line injuries continued to affect the lineup through the early part of the season with David Molk (center), David Moosman (right guard) and Schilling (right tackle) being the only players to start each of the first four games. In the first five games, the team used four different starting offensive line combinations due to injuries. Dorrestein's first career start and season debut came in game three during the rivalry game against Notre Dame on September 13. For the season, Dorrestein appeared in 5 games, starting 4.
Although Dorrestein played in the first 3 games of the season, he did not start until the 4th game against Indiana on September 26 when the offensive line was reshuffled. After starting 6 games in a row at right tackle, he missed the November 7 game against Purdue due to a back injury.
In 2010, he battled with Taylor Lewan and Mark Hyuge for the left tackle spot, but wound up starting at right tackle. He missed the October 30 and November 6 games against Penn State and Illinois due to a sprained knee. He played sparingly as a reserve in the November 13 game against Purdue, although he served as game captain. Robinson fell 116 yards short of Tim Biakabutuka's Michigan school record of 1,818 rushing yards. However, he led the conference in both total offense and rushing yards per game.
Pro career
On July 27, Dorrestein signed with the New York Jets. On November 23, Dorrestein was signed to the Chicago Bears' practice squad.
