Patrick G. Fitzpatrick

The Reverend Father Patrick G. Fitzpatrick was a Roman Catholic priest who emigrated to the United States from Limerick, Ireland, in the early 1950s. Fitzpatrick was responsible for helping the poor and downtrodden throughout the eastern seaboard by creating numerous programs that are in existence today. He played a pivotal role in the logistics of the Catholic Charities organization. He also played as well an integral role in creating Catholic curriculum focused on a diversity of categories. He was the pastor at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach, NJ. He was ordained in 1962 and received his first pastorate at Holy Family in 1979. Prior to that, he was assigned to St. Anthony's, Trenton, NJ and St. Mary's, South Amboy, NJ. He was predeceased by a brother, James; and a sister, Jean Gurin. He is survived by two brothers, Dynan and Kevin Fitzpatrick (Republic of Ireland Football club goalkeeper) of Ireland; a sister, Noreen McMahon of Canada; and several nieces and nephews. He died March 5, 2008, at the age of 72.
