Patrick Aryee

Patrick Aryee (born 1985) is a British broadcaster and conservationist, best known for presenting a range of nature programmes. Aryee graduated from Bristol University after studying cancer biology.
Television career
Aryee began his career in broadcasting working behind the scenes on a series of BBC nature programmes, such as the David Attenborough presented Madagascar and Frozen Planet. He also worked as a researcher on Attenborough: 60 Years in the Wild and behind the scenes on Springwatch in 2011.
After spending time as a researcher, Aryee realised his ambition to front his own documentaries. In 2014 Aryee co-hosted the BBC series Super Senses: The Secret Power of Animals. This series comprised three episodes, with a single episode focusing on scent, sound, and sight. When discussing the new series, Aryee said “I’ve always wanted to be a part of a series that could combine David Attenborough’s knowledge of the wild and Brian Cox’s fascination with science. Super Senses does this perfectly and in essence allows us to “take the lab into the wild”. 2015 saw him present his first of a series of nature programmes on Sky with the three part series Cats: An Amazing Animal Family. Following the success of the series, Aryee presented a further two editions of the show, with Monkeys: An Amazing Animal Family being broadcast in 2016 before Dogs: An Amazing Animal Family was aired in 2017.
In 2016 he co-presented the BBC series Ingenious Animals alongside other naturalists such as Giles Clark and Lucy Cooke. Following this, he presented a two-part series looking at the ecology of Yellowstone national park entitled Yellowstone: Wildest Winter to Blazing Summer. In 2017 he presented Super Small Animals. 2018 saw him return to Springwatch, this time as a guest presenter for one week of the show’s three week run. His work continued with Sky as he presented Big Beasts: Last of the Giants. Since 2018 Aryee has been a regular contributor to The One Show.
In 2020 Aryee became the face of Sky Nature, a new channel dedicated to programmes about the natural world. He presented the channel’s first original content, Wild Animal Babies. 2021 saw him present another show for Sky Nature, the part series titled Impossible Animals. 2021 also saw him join the new ITV magazine show The Pet Show.
As well as his television work, Aryee has also created a range of podcasts, and has written several articles for various publications. He has also given various speeches about nature and wildlife.
Books
In 2021 Aryee had his first book published, based on his successful podcast series. The book is titled '30 Animals that made us Smarter.
Awards
In 2015 he picked up the award for Best New Onscreen Talent at the RTS West Awards, for his work on Super Senses, which was broadcast by the BBC.
Charity work
He is an ambassador for several wildlife charities, including the RSPCA, of which he said 'I remember how proud I was of the RSPCA when I was growing up. Their campaigns are likely to have been the first time many of us realised there was a need to ensure the welfare of animals and to prevent them from being abused or abandoned.” He also works as a patron for the Orangutan Foundation. He has spent time helping endangered species.
