Owain Astles

Owain Astles is a British filmmaker, actor and activist. He is the founder and director of Pastles Productions, a film production company based in the UK. He is known for his work on social issues, particularly homelessness. In late 2016, Astles ran a Kickstarter campaign that brought in over £6000 for the docudrama short film Sleeping Rough.
Early life and career
Astles was born in 1995 in the United Kingdom. He was a member of the National Youth Theatre, and starred in a number of theatre productions and short films before moving into directing short films. Later he attended the University of Bristol.
In 2015, Astles founded the film and video production company, Pastles Productions, a company set up with the aim of raising awareness of social issues. That year, Astles directed the company's first short film, Kids, a film raising awareness of bullying, loosely based on the story of Amanda Todd.
In 2016 he was named by Rife Magazine as one of the 24 Most Influential Bristolians Under 24 for his film work, particularly in increasing awareness of social issues such as mental health and homelessness. He has worked with notable charities such as Off The Record and Cardboard Citizens, and in 2016 was commissioned by Watershed cinema's Rife magazine to create a short documentary series about homelessness in Bristol.
