Deepak Venkateshan aka Thermoman (born September 20) is a writer, filmmaker based in Mumbai, India. He works across the medium of Films, Television & Advertisements. Early life Deepak hails from Bangalore, Karnataka. Deepak's mother's name is Shantha and father's name is G Venkateshan. He has one sister Bindu Venkateshan. Deepak is married to Mala Balakrishnan and has a daughter Akirah. Deepak did his schooling and college from Bangalore.He was interested in social sciences and in extra-curricular activities, actively participating in debates and drama. He was also a NCC cadet and has won a few medals in shooting. He also studied Strategy, Marketing & Entrepreneurship at IIM Kolkata. Deepak also goes by the name of Thermoman and runs "Thermoman Films". Career Deepak began his career as a writer in 2004 when he started work in the Kannada Film Industry in Bangalore. His first work was in the field of corporate films and ads. Deepak wrote several movies in Bangalore and assisted filmmakers. Deepak worked on Satyavan Savithri and was part of the direction crew. Deepak was part of the writing crew of the taut well received Kannada thriller "Accident". He has worked with Ramesh Arvind, the popular South Indian actor in the Kannada industry. Deepak moved to Mumbai in 2007 and started writing content for Hindi Film as well as Television Industry. Deepak pitched a dark police procedural thriller "Vinayak" for the Screenplay Workshop conducted by British Council with Channel 4 and Eeleanora Images. His work was selected and he was mentored by Vishal Bharadwaj & Shekar Kapur. Deepak wrote the initial story of "I Am Kalam" which went on to win great critical acclaim. Deepak also wrote the story and screenplay of Nila Madhab Panda's 'JALPARI-The Desert Mermaid', after a collaboration with the director on his earlier film, I Am Kalam. 'JALPARI' is an adventure film that deals with the issue of female infanticide and was released in Aug 2012. Deepak has written for TV as well and has written across thriller concepts, family dramas and across the channel of Star TV, Colors, Kannada Kasturi, Udaya TV Deepak has directed several short films and 2 noteworthy in them are "What If" & "Long Drive". What If is a thriller set between a young couple and Long Drive talks of relationships.
