Open Mobile Ticketing Alliance

Open Mobile Ticketing Alliance
In September 2014 the formation of the Open Mobile Ticketing Alliance (OMTA) was announced, an industry alliance focusing on open standards for mobile public transport ticketing. The project aims to standardise transit ticketing globally, allowing users to ride trains, busses, and ferries with a single account, anywhere in the world.
Founding partners include Nokia’s Here, Scheidt & Bachmann, Thales, and Verifone Mobile Money. Associate partners and promoters include Land Transport Authority of Singapore, Unwire, and My Ticket Store
Currently in R&D and testing stages, the use of NFC technology lets users tap their mobile phones at transit systems around the world, debiting their mobile wallet. All transit system data and business logic, as well as the passenger’s payment information, is stored in the cloud, enabling an interoperable open payments-based ticketing system.
