AIMS (Award Information Management System) is an enterprise-wide grant and knowledge management system that records information about grants and applications, and enables organisations to manage them from initial application stage to sign-off and payment. The system was developed with the goal of assisting Funding and Development organisations to manage their business processes. AIMS maps all generic aspects of the funding process from initial application stage, though to payment /commitment and approval. The system is based on a Knowledge Management framework, developed as part of an EU funded project, which was originally launched in 2003. The system supports a paperless grant-processing environment, providing access to stored documents and scanned images, with optional version control, thus reducing administrative] and other paper associated costs, while improving the quality and availability of information on file. Features The system is flexible: organisations have the ability to configure their own programmes, workflows, application forms and checklists; the system also enables the organisation to modify existing schemes and processes. Individual templates can be set up for each scheme at every stage of the application and style sheets are also supplied which allow organisations incorporate their corporate identity into system. The system is browser-based; users have access to any part of the system, regardless of where they are located. This is rigorously controlled through a comprehensive system of permissions, which ensures only the correct users - internal or external, have access to the information they are entitled to. The systems are also multi-lingual, which means applicants can apply in English, or other languages if required, and the translation module supports all language editions of AIMS.
