Norwegian C-130 Hercules accident

The Norwegian C-130 Hercules accident happened on 15 March 2012 when a Royal Norwegian Air Force Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules military transport plane suddenly disapeared from radar over the Kebnekaise mountain near Kiruna in Sweden.
Aircraft
The aircraft involved was a Lockheed Martin C-130J "Super" Hercules is a four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft. The C-130J is a comprehensive update of the venerable Lockheed C-130 Hercules, with new engines, flight deck, and other systems. The aircraft involved was one of four such planes acquired by the norwegian military between 2008 and 2010. It was named "Siv".
Accident
The plane had left Evenes Airport at 13:40 and was scheduled to arrive at Kiruna Airport at 14:30. Based on radar and communications data, the plane is thought to have been lost in a region of wilderness near the Kebnekaise mountain range in Sweden. According to a spokesperson, "It has been quite a long time now since we lost radio contact, so we don't have much hope now." The next day, a spokesman for Norwegian Armed Forces stated that the five missing officers are very experienced, and if the plane performed an emergency landing they are capable of surviving in the mountains for a long time.
Around 16:00 Middle European Time, 16/03, a Norwegian Orion aircraft partaking in the search spotted an orange or red object on the ground in the Kebnekaise mountain range.
Debris and wreckage has been found, including a seat and a velcro pad. Both of the items were soaked in paraffin. Defence minister Espen Barth Eide informed the media that rescuers had seen signs indicating a massive collision on the mountain-side, with small amounts of debris scattered across a large area, adding that the "whole plane may have been destroyed".
Casualties
A total of five crew was aboard the plane when it disappeared, all of whom was senior officers. The names of the missing was released by the military on 16th March 2012.
