2013 Cuatro Vientos crash

On 2013 May 5, at the Cuatro Vientos Airport (Madrid, Spain) , a Hispano HA-200 Saeta flown by Ladislao Tejedor, an assistant to Spain's Defense Minister, crashed in the surroundings of the airport during an exhibition, near the spectators, injuring the pilot and several people who went to help the pilot. The pilot was dead after going to hospital.
The HA-200 was registered in Spain as EC-DXR and owned by the Fundación Infante de Orleans, which organizes aircraft exhibitions every month in Cuatro Vientos. The pilot was an experienced pilot: he used to pilot F-18 aircrafts and had worked in some war operations, as that of the 2011 military intervention in Libya. This time he had passed the spectators fiels and was flying through the landing strip when the aircraft lost height and crashed into an helicopter hanger, destroying six vehicles and causing a fire which extended to the hanger offices but was rapidly controlled by firemen. Three policemen and a woman were injured.
