The nah nah syndrome (also known as the nah-nah syndrome) is a slang phrase used to describe the use of nonsensical or non-word phrases in the refrain or chorus of a song. This phenomenon has existed in modern popular and rock music for decades. A well-known example of a song that falls into this category is The Beatles's 1968 hit "Hey Jude."
