Mike Gasaway

Mike Gasaway (born August 17, 1970) is an American film director, writer, animator known for his work in computer animation and live-action. Gasaway is best known for his work on The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius.
Early Life
Gasaway started in Architecture at the University of Cincinnati before finding animation. He taught himself the basic principles before starting his career. His interest in performance started in High School by acting in plays and continued through college.
Career
Minvera Software
After to moving to Minneapolis to attend a graphic arts school, Gasaway joined Minerva software, a developer for Softimage. Gasaway operated as an animator, putting the software to use, and acted as technical support. He worked trade shows, demonstrating the software as well.
Television Monster
A short film entirely created by Gasaway representing robotic monsters bent on destroying all that is good. One monster runs across two younger monsters playing with a ball, dressed in the colors of Earth. The monster has to make a choice between conforming with the good monsters or staying his course of destruction. The short played at many festivals and was a part of a video compilation.
Walt Disney Imagineering
Gasaway moved to Los Angeles to join the Walt Disney company’s VR division. He worked as a character animator on such VR titles including Hercules, Toon Town, and the Pirates of the Caribbean.
Jak and Daxter
Hoping games would expand his abilities, Gasaway animated on the first Jak and Daxter video game with Naughty Dog games.
Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius
Gasaway joined DNA Productions in July 2000 as an animator and quickly was promoted to Animation Supervisor. He was then added as a director for the series, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. Gasaway directed for the three seasons of the series run. He was nominated for an Annie Award.
Back at the Barnyard
Taking the role of Supervising Director, Gasaway worked nearly 2 seasons garnering an Emmy Nomination and an Emmy win, while working for Steve Oedekerk’s company, O Entertainment.
Planet Sheen
Gasaway became Supervising Director and Co-Producer for a Jimmy Neutron spinoff that he and Keith Alcorn developed while at DNA Productions.
Help Me
When he moved to Pittsburgh, PA, Gasaway wrote a supernatural horror film and hoped to raise the initial $2 million to shoot it. He discovered that creating a “prequel”, or a short before the feature would be an easier play. He individually raised the money, hiring a cast and crew and using the location of Hill View Manor, in New Castle, PA as the backdrop.
Awards
In 2004, Gasaway was nominated for an Annie Award for Outstanding Directing in an Animated Television Production (The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius).
In 2008, Gasaway was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing in an Animated Program (Back at the Barnyard).
