Matthew Kenslow

Matthew James Kenslow (born July 22, 1995) is an American author, YouTuber of over 14,000 subscribers, and Instagram influencer of over 350,000 followers. In 2019, he published an anthology, Juggling the Issues: Living with Asperger's Syndrome. In 2020, his book was republished by River Birch Press. He and his story has been featured in many places, from Spectrum News Los Angeles to Newsweek Magazine.

Kenslow has grown up with "a higher-functioning version of autism" formally known as "Asperger syndrome." He has experienced discrimination for his Autism, which includes being name-called, yelled at, ran away from, and begged not to have children. He has the ability of recalling facts about the American Presidents, geography, science, and mathematics. His states that his mission is to teach others to understand Autism, inspire, and encourage, as well as to put aside their differences and embrace their gifts.

He graduated with an Associate of science degree in chemistry at Orange Coast College and with a Bachelor of science degree in biochemistry at Vanguard University of Southern California.

He currently student teaches Enhanced Mathematics at Ensign Intermediate School (NMUSD), which is his former middle school, seeking to receive credentials by December 2022. He attended schools of the Newport Mesa Unified School District, being mainstreamed in third grade.
He shares common symptoms, such as lacking social and conversational skills, and having poor eye contact with others.
On December 8, 2015, an article about him was published in the Orange County Register, "Being on the autism spectrum isn’t holding back Costa Mesa man".
Becoming an Author
Kenslow loved to write ever since early elementary school, and began innumerable writing projects for both books and television or movie scripts. In late 2013, he began with the intent of writing short stories, soon becoming a novella, which ultimately became a trilogy. At completion of the manuscript, the agent submitted the final piece to various publishing houses, and Axiom Press Publishers accepted the manuscript. He shared his experience and his bodycam video on YouTube after it happened.
Though he was often discriminated, Kenslow said that it made him empathetic toward others and that he learned how to handle situations by not adding "fuel to the fire."
He volunteers around the community, playing piano, and juggling for students at various schools, encouraging them not to give up on their passions.
He became certified as an emergency medical responder (a part of the emergency medical services) twice, and served at his church for the first response team.
