Joseph Patrick Sweet (born October 30, 1976 in Black River, New York) is an American author, whose books include the short story collections Hell 101 and The Fall Published in 2007 and 2008.
Bio Joseph Sweet was eleven years old when he first started writing, but he said there was never a moment when he imagined he'd be writing anything worth reading, and shortly thereafter, he quit. "It became obvious very quickly that I wasn't ready for that." he said. Writing was always in his heart, however, and after a near-fatal accident at a young age, Sweet began reading everything he could get his hands on. Eventually at about sixteen, he picked up his pen again, and made another stab at it. His first book, Hell 101, (published in 2007 by Forsaken Press) got a good response from reviewers. An independent blog, posting reviews of hundreds of books, shined a very favorable l ight on it, despite their copy being an early, unedited and as of yet unpublished version. Hell 101 is a collection of thirteen short horror and science fiction stories, ranging from tentacled creatures to near-death experiences and Post apocalyptic adventure. Sweet has attended book signings in upstate NY, including Borders Books and Music who also carry it, and they are available worldwide through online stores like Barnes & noble, and Amazon.com. Sweet's second book, The Fall, was released in February of 2008 by Forsaken Press, containing one novella and 5 short horror stories. A fan-site went up shortly after the release of his first book, as well as an article on associated content. Both by a fan going by the user-name, DrDeviance. The user resides in Sweden, showing that even despite early concerns of self publishing, Sweet was already attracting fans across the globe before the release of his second book.
Since then, Joseph has been interviewed by Fox 7 and 28, Newswatch 50, and News 10 now, as well as the local times, and other news sources, and quickly attained a local celebrity status. He has been referred to as a "Young Stephen King." And compared to authors like Edgar Allen Poe. Both, sweet has said, he isn't sure he deserves, but is flattered nonetheless.
