Matthew Tubbs (born July 15, 1984, in Salisbury) is an English footballer who plays for Salisbury City F.C. in The Conference National. He wears the number 10 shirt and is a striker.
A local born player who signed for the Whites in October 2003 from Dorchester Town F.C.
He is a firm favourite with supporters - and is already 11th in the list of Salisbury City’s all-time top scorers.
Tubbs began his career at A.F.C. Bournemouth and was also at Bolton Wanderers F.C.
He netted 29 goals in 37 league and cup matches during the 2005/06 season despite missing a large chunk of it through injury. Bagged 30 goals last term and scored the winner in the play-off final against Braintree Town.
During his time with Salisbury he scored in front of the Match Of The Day cameras when Salisbury City held Nottingham Forest F.C. 1-1 in the FA Cup.
He got called up to the England National Game XI after helping Salisbury City win promotion to the Blue Square Premier and promptly scored on his debut against Ireland.
During the Summer he became the first ever Whites player to turn professional, signing a three-year deal.
He is currently having a trial at Football League One side Millwall F.C.
